The Canton Food Bank
This important community resource helps supplement family food needs regardless of income. The food bank is located at the Trinity Episcopal Church on River Road in Collinsville and is open on Tuesdays from 8:00 AM to 11:30 AM to Canton residents. Each year, around Christmas, WLHZ takes up a multi-week collection of non-perishable food items to donate to the pantry.

 

Focus On Canton, Inc.
WLHZ participates in FOCUS ON CANTON — a non-profit community group dedicated to nurturing, assisting, and enabling Canton residents. Its purpose is to coordinate community efforts to assist residents with personal and community needs not otherwise met. FOC comprises representatives from Canton’s religious community, the Canton Chamber of Commerce, the Town Council, Canton Rotary Club, Canton Lions Club, Senior Citizens and Canton residents interested in making sure that ALL of our Canton residents have access to essential services for happy and healthy lives.

 

Canton Thanksgiving Interfaith Service
This yearly service, organized by Canton-Collinsville faith communities in November, is a true celebration of both the richness of diversity and our common ground as an inclusive human family. Clergy and their congregations from the Christian, Muslim, Jewish, and Buddhist traditions gather together “at the table” to celebrate in a spirit of gratitude and friendship.

 

 

Farmington Valley League of Light
WLHZ participates in the work of this Valley-wide multi-faith organization. Members are neighbors in Farmington Valley united in these shared values: Respecting and loving our neighbors, Celebrating our varied religions, faith traditions and backgrounds, Engaging in civil discourse when there are community disagreements, Treating everyone equally, Deepening one’s own spirituality — gathering together to support the common good in the Greater Hartford region and beyond. 

 

The United Sangha Council of Connecticut
The Council’s mission is to provide the spiritual leadership and guidance to all the Buddhist temples and their followers in our area. Member sanghas from Theraveda, Mahayana, Vajrayana, and Zen traditions organize collective events, most notably the yearly Vesak Celebration (Celebration of birth, life and passing of the Buddha).
