2020 SEON MEDITATION RETREAT

2020 WLHZ Seon Retreat, October 16–18 at Trinita Retreat Center, New Hartford, CT
The Seon (Zen) Weekend Retreat experience, held at Trinita Retreat Center (www.msbt.org/trinita/), offers individuals a refuge of practice that is set apart from the bustle of daily activities. Participants enter into formal seon meditation periods, contemplative silence, and sangha life. The retreat begins Friday evening and closes Sunday by noon. Beginners are welcomed to attend. Covid-19 protocols including wearing of masks and safe distancing will be followed.

Conduct a COVID-19 Self-Assessment BEFORE your arrival
In the interest of ensuring a safe and healthy practice environment, we ask that you carefully review this self-assessment check prior to your arrival at the practice site. At all times health protocols and requirements need to be followed.
Self-Assessment questions and action:
A. HAVE I, OR A MEMBER OF MY HOUSEHOLD, TRAVELED DOMESTICALLY RECENTLY?
All participants to WLHZ Seon Service who have traveled domestically from these U.S. locations; Alabama, Arkansas, Arizona, California, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Iowa, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Minnesota, Missouri, Mississippi, Montana, North Carolina, North Dakota, Nebraska, Nevada, Oklahoma, Puerto Rico, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virgin Islands, Virginia, Washington (Metrics for Washington are currently under review, status may change), Wisconsin, or whose household members have done the same.
B. HAVE I, OR A MEMBER OF MY HOUSEHOLD TRAVELED, ABROAD RECENTLY?
All participants to WLHZ Seon Service with a member of same household who has returned from international travel in the last 14 days. Note: this does not include travel as part of the commute to/from work.
C. HAVE I OR SOMEONE I HAVE BEEN IN CLOSE CONTACT WITH PERSONS DIAGNOSED WITH COVID-19?
Persons with close contact* with a person who has been diagnosed with 2019-nCoV Acute Respiratory Disease (COVID-19) by testing or Doctor diagnosed. *Close contacts are people who are within about 2m (6 feet) for about 30 minutes or more.
ACTION:
If you answer yes to question A, B or C:
We are asking you to self-quarantine in accordance with the best practices requirement for 14 days starting the day you or your household member arrived back in your home country.
With either A, B or C:
If you become infected with COVID-19 within the 14 day period, you are to remain home and may return to practice site when you are free of fever (38°C/100.4°F or greater using an oral thermometer), signs of a fever, and any other symptoms for at least 72 hours, without the use of fever-reducing or other symptom-altering medicines (e.g. cough suppressants) and at least 7 days have passed since symptoms first appeared.
All people who do not meet the criteria above should conduct the following self-assessment BEFORE COMING on Retreat.
Do you have:
1. Fever (greater than 38°C/100.4°F) or
2. Signs and symptoms of respiratory or flu-like illness
ACTION:
If either of the above symptoms are present, you are directed to remain home. You may return to the the practice site when you are free of fever (38°C/100.4°F or greater using an oral thermometer), signs of a fever, and any other symptoms for at least 72 hours, without the use of fever-reducing or other symptom-altering medicines (e.g. cough suppressants) and at least 7 days have passed since symptoms first appeared.
Upon arrival to the practice space:
A. Please wear a mask into the practice space.
B. Please avoid touching (e.g. hugging, shaking hands, etc.) of course Hapjang (palms together) with a half bow is appropriate.
C. When greeting each other maintain a safe distance of 6-feet.
D. Please make your way directly to a mat/chair and remain in that space (mats will be space out accordingly.)
E. Restroom will be available as usual. (Soap and hand sanitizer will be available.)
Regarding Practice Forms
A. There will be no opening procession to altar. Altar Master will begin at the front cushion, left of Ven. Shim Bo.
B. There will be no full prostration (head to mat) throughout service. Instead please use half bow form, bending at the waist throughout the service.
C. Please keep masks on during the practice period (Cloth masks are fine. Light blue paper medical masks may be more comfortable.)
D. Chanting will take place as usual.
E. Sitting form will proceed as usual.
F. Walking meditation form will proceed as usual, keeping 6-feet of space between persons.
G. After the closing of the altar we will remain in place and sit on mats/chairs for sharing.
H. There will be no tea time gathering.
